English Programme

Curriculum

Our English Language Curriculum has been designed in order for our students to realise their full potential and to become community minded. Language learning is based on six fundamental strands. Reading and Writing, Speaking and Listening as well as Viewing and Presentation skills. These skills are essential to language development and go hand in hand with all the other subject areas. Students are exposed to the English language all around the school, so that they have the opportunity to use their language skills at all times. In order for our students to become critical thinkers as well as life long learners, the six sub strands of communication can be seen as a fundamental cornerstone of all learning that takes place. Encouraging communication at home and at school is essential to effective communication, and therefore, language learning. Students further develop an understanding of the English language in other core learning areas. These include mathematics, science, health, sport, technology and visual and performing arts.
